Welcome to Metro Business Partnership

The Business Park concept is an initiative developed on industrial estates in urban areas of the country. The core feature is business leadership and self help.

The initiative started locally in Walsall where in the 1980’s a major industrial estate was spiraling in to decline. The estate was home to 45 manufacturing companies. Many of these companies were considering moving away. But a handful of owners had the vision to realize what could be achieved with commitment and determination. These businesses formed a unique partnership; a company limited by guarantee- Premier Business Park Limited the first ‘business park’.

Driven by the local business community and close partnership links with key stakeholders, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Business Link, the local authority and the police it proven to be hugely successful. Over the next five years, employment grew by 49%, five new companies moved in and businesses invested over £7.2 Million.

In 2003 the Bilston Business Area and the Metro Business District was formed in Wolverhampton representing the interest of some 360 local businesses. In 2004 the steering group renamed the two areas in Wolverhampton the ‘Metro Business Partnership’ to provide a united partnership and to drive the project forward.
